Job Description

Lead Positive Change as an APO and Behaviour Support Implementation Lead at Novita.

Are you passionate about driving best practice in behaviour support and supporting teams to deliver high-quality services? Join Novita as our Authorised Program Officer (APO) and Behaviour Support Implementation Lead, where you’ll review positive behaviour support plans (PBSP) and restrictive practices (RP’s) to gain authorisation and provide clinical leadership and oversight to support implementation of PBSP’s and RP’s effectively across our community services.

This unique part-time opportunity (0.5 FTE) involves supporting metropolitan and regional teams, guiding the consistent and respectful implementation of positive behaviour support plans, and leading efforts to reduce restrictive practices in line with NDIS Practice Standards.

In this influential role, you will:

  • Provide expert review and authorisation of behaviour support plans (PBSPs) and restrictive practices in collaboration with Novita’s Quality and Risk team.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and clinical standards, advocating for the least restrictive and most respectful approaches.
  • Partner with Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, frontline staff, and families to ensure PBSPs are implemented effectively and consistently.
  • Deliver training, mentoring, and clinical leadership to build capability in positive behaviour support across metropolitan and regional teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of restrictive practices, supporting fade-out strategies and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of safety, accountability, and rights-based practice.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in allied health, disability, education, or a related field.
  • Eligibility to be registered as an Authorised Program Officer with the Department of Human Services.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of behaviour interventions and supports.
  • Strong knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards, Quality Indicators, and relevant legislation.
  • Proven ability to lead, train, and support multidisciplinary teams in behaviour support implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients, families, and stakeholders with empathy and clarity.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and ethical practice.

Desirable:

  • Proficient or Core Behaviour Support Practitioner (or working toward proficiency).
  • Experience in clinical leadership, risk mitigation, and service improvement initiatives.

If you’re ready to lead with integrity, promote respectful and person-centred care, and make a lasting impact in the lives of people with disability, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re serious about safeguarding our clients. If you don’t have a current NDIS Worker Check and SA Working with Children Check, we’ll let you know how to obtain these prior to starting work with us.
